I killed Ramos with my elbow: Lovren
Croatia’s Dejan Lovren was in an aggressive mood after Croatia beat Spain in last night’s UEFA Nations League match. Following the match, he went to the dressing room and posted an Instagram video to let his followers know about his night of revenge.
"I'm happy, I killed him with my elbow, I killed him..." he ranted on Instagram."
“Sergio Ramos has more failures than me and Varane is better than him but he plays for Real Madrid, so when he makes a mistake, he wins 5-1 or 5-2 and nobody cares."
Croatia had been beaten 6-0 in the previous encounter between the two sides and Lovren said that Spain players had lacked ‘generosity’ after that big win.
“You have to have fair play and congratulate opponents when they have won, but Spain have shown they don't have that generosity and that has turned against them.
“When we lost 6-0 we greeted them, we showed that we are a team with decency and honour. Only Morata came to congratulate us, the rest didn't and I've never seen anything like that.”
Spain passed up the chance to seal progress to the Nations League finals as they were beaten 3-2 by Croatia on Thursday, undone by a 93rd-minute winner from Tin Jedvaj.
“Obviously they think they are above us and that they are bigger than us... but they are not,” he added. Luka Modric had a decent outing and Lovren believes that he's a candidate for the Ballon d'Or.
“If he played for Germany or Spain, he would receive much more attention, and perhaps he would be chosen as the best player in the world," he said.
