Shamit Shome thanks fans as BFF turns focus on Sullivan brothers

Canada-based Shamit Shome has thanked his fans for their support and gratitude to Bangladesh's football officials for expediting the process of his switch through a video message.
The Cavalry FC midfielder, who was cleared by FIFA to represent Bangladesh on Tuesday and was subsequently registered as a Bangladesh squad member by the AFC, is expected to join the Bangladesh team on June 5 ahead of the Asian Cup Qualifiers fixture in Dhaka against Singapore on June 10.
The 27-year-old midfielder, in the video message shared by BFF, said: "Hi everybody, this is Shamit Shome. Very excited to represent Bangladesh at the international level of football. A huge thanks to everybody for your support and a huge thanks to everybody who have sped up the process and made this possible. Thanks."
Meanwhile, after securing the services of Hamza Choudhury and Shamit Shome, BFF is now eyeing two high-profile youngsters – the twin Sullivan brothers – for the under-23 team.
Declan and Conor Sullivan – the twin brothers of the more high-profile Quinn and Cavan Sullivan – currently play for the youth side of Philadelphia Union, who ply their trade in MLS Next.

"I have had a virtual meet with Brandon Sullivan, the father of the Sullivans.I told him about the process they would have to go through for the twins, who play for Philadelphia U-18 side, to play for Bangladesh. Both partiers agreed that they would be more appropriate now to play in the age-group teams, especially the under-23 side which has an AFC assignment in September. He also asked about the opinion of head coach Javier Cabrera, and Cabrera is of the opinion that these players are extremely promising. Following these talks, Brandon assured me, later in the day, that both of them are interested in playing for Bangladesh.
Although the Sullivans were born and raised in USA, apart from the USA they can also represent Germany, where their maternal grandfather was originally from o forr Bangladesh, where their maternal grandmother was originally from. However, it is likely a bit of time to process the documents, unlike in the case of Shome, to make these two brothers eligible to play for Bangladesh.
