When I talk I’m not understood: Cristiano
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo refused to be interviewed after his side’s six-goal demolition of APOEL Nicosia and accused the media of twisting his words.
Ronaldo’s two goals after half time took his tally to eight goals from five matches in the Champions league this season. The Portuguese also broke his own record of scoring the most number of Champions League goals in a calendar year. In 2015, Ronaldo scored 16 goals but this time around he surpassed that record by scoring 18 times in the UEFA Champions League in 2017.
However, the Portuguese was in no mood to discuss his achievements and instead focused on how his words are not understood. Ronaldo had a public disagreement with captain Sergio Ramos over some comments he made about Real Madrid's squad depth.
Ronaldo had suggested that Real have a weaker squad this season following the departures of Alvaro Morata, James Rodriguez and Pepe. Ramos termed such an opinion as ‘opportunistic’ and when asked to comment on Cristiano’s Real Madrid future, he replied: "Cristiano is leaving? Ask him, I don't know about these things."
While in the mixed zone of the stadium, Ronaldo told reporters after the APOEL Nicosia match: "I'm not talking, as when I talk I'm not understood. And then you talk about something I did not say."
