Liton sixth Bangladeshi to reach 1k runs in T20Is
Liton Das became the sixth Bangladeshi to score 1000 runs in T20I during the first of the three-match T20I against Zimbabwe on Saturday.
Playing in his 52nd T20I, Liton was 20 runs short of the landmark score. He reached the feat on his way to a quick-fire 19-ball 32 before being run-out in an unusual manner.
The Tigers eventually ended up losing the game by 17 runs after the hosts posted a big total of 205 for three. They trail the three-match T20I series 1-0.
Liton, who has been in prolific form in the recent times, has now scored 1012 runs in 52 T20Is at an average of 20.24. He has joined Mahmudullah Riyad, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Soumya Sarkar in the list of Bangladesh batters scoring more than thousand runs in the format.
Mahmudullah has scored the most runs for Bangladesh in T20Is with 2043 runs from 118 games. Premier all-rounder Shakib is at number two position with 2010 runs in 99 games. Tamim and Mushfiqur are in the third and fourth position with 1701 and 1495 runs, respectively, and Soumya is at number five with 1136 runs in 66 T20Is.
