Tamim opts to bowl in Tigers’ 100th ODI at SBNCS
Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal has won the toss and elected to bowl first against England at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today as the hosts aim to stage a comeback to keep the three-match series alive.
"It looks soft [pitch] compared to the first ODI," said Tamim at the toss.
England captain Jos Buttler said he would have "wanted to bat anyway" and agreed with Tamim about the "tacky" nature of the Mirpur wicket.
The Tigers, playing their 100th ODI at Mirpur stadium – which is also hosting a landmark 200th ODI – will want their batters to have their tails up from ball one as Tamim and Co could only pile up 209 runs in the series opener despite showing promise in the first half of their innings.
Bangladesh have kept their eleven unchanged, while England made two as the world champions sidelined misfiring Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes. In their place, Sam Curran -- the player of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia -- and Sakib Mahmood made their way in the England starting line-up.
