National Sports Council (NSC) has issued 32 cheques for players and support staff of the SAFF winning Bangladesh women’s football team, equally disbursing the promised Tk 1 crore reward for bringing home the regional football title for the second time in a row, said sports Adviser Asif Mahmud on social media.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set for an important meeting on Wednesday with many important discussions to be held. The board is currently operating without any standing committee since Faruque Ahmed took charge of the BCB presidency following the resignation of Nazmul Hassan Papon.
"As an alternative, stakeholders have proposed a 19.1-acre plot in Dholirchara mouza, under Rashidnagar union of the same upazila, for the development of the Centre," stated the NSC release.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Star, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, the Adviser for Youth and Sports to the Interim Government, has pointed out several issues he has had to encounter since being sworn in for the role on August 8. Asif explained his take on the current issues and the solutions he intends to provide. He said that the constitutions upon which the sports federations operate need to change to establish democratic practices and create a culture where accountability is paramount.
The NSC clarified its stance regarding the resignation and appointments in a press release.
