3rd death anniversary of Latifur Rahman
The fact that Latifur Rahman, Shamim Bhai to us all, is no longer among us still feels unreal.
My connection with Latifur Rahman (Shamim) goes back to pre-partition times when both our families lived in Calcutta (Kolkata), though we never actually met then.
Two years ago today, we lost Mr Latifur Rahman. He was a man of immense integrity and determination. He was an ethical entrepreneur, a champion of the free media, and a family man.
Latifur Rahman, or “Shamim bhai” as we knew him, is no longer with us today. In his absence, the business community in Bangladesh will never be the same again. His guidance and cool temperament will be greatly missed.
A doa mahfil will be held at 5:30pm today in remembrance of Latifur Rahman, founder chairman and CEO of Transcom Group.
The Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday issued a notice to Transcom Group Chairman and CEO Latifur Rahman, requesting him to appear before it on October 18 for recording his statement over alleged accumulation of illegal wealth.
Transcom Group Chairman Latifur Rahman has been honoured with the prestigious “SAARC Outstanding Leader” award for setting a “rare example” of doing business by upholding moral values while also fulfilling the organisation's social responsibilities.
