The Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) has seen a prolonged lull in activity, with no shooting taking place for an extended period. This slowdown has worsened since the July protests. During the day, the FDC remains almost deserted, and the nights are eerily quiet. However, last night at around 10pm, more than 100 film directors were present at the FDC, engaging in group discussions.
A new film titled “Operation Jackpot”, highlighting the daring guerrilla missions of naval commandos during a pivotal moment in Bangladesh’s Liberation War, is currently in production.
The production of the film "Operation Jackpot," with a budget of 23 crores, has been in progress at FDC for several days. The narrative revolves around the remarkable guerilla operation, titled ‘Operation Jackpot’, executed by the naval sector during the Liberation War of Bangladesh. Several prominent stars from the country are actively involved in the project. Bangladeshi director Delwar Jahan Jhantu and Indian director Rajib Kumar, are jointly directing the film with funding from the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
There was a time not so long ago when Bangladesh Film Development Corporation was abuzz with various activities -- from shooting films to dubbing and editing.
Today marks the 20th death anniversary of legendary actor, Azim. For the occasion, his wife and actress Sujata pens down her thoughts, parts of which have been published for The Daily Star readers.
