The Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) has seen a prolonged lull in activity, with no shooting taking place for an extended period. This slowdown has worsened since the July protests. During the day, the FDC remains almost deserted, and the nights are eerily quiet. However, last night at around 10pm, more than 100 film directors were present at the FDC, engaging in group discussions.

According to a Prothom Alo report, as the night progressed, the gathering grew, focused on the Film Directors' Association election. Despite the festive mood, unease lingered as directors discussed the sudden unrest at the FDC.

The 2025-26 election features two competing panels. Shahin Shumon and Shahin Kabir Tutul are vying for the key positions of secretary general and general secretary on one panel, while their opponents, Mushfiqur Rahman and Shafi Uddin Shafi, represent the rival panel.

One of them remarked, "The FDC has not yet approved the election centre, and the location of the election venue is still undecided."
