CAAB to allow passenger flights to and from China under special considerations

Due to the urgency of Bangladeshi passengers, CAAB today decided to allow flights of Biman, US-Bangla, China Eastern, and China Southern airlines to operate passenger flights between Dhaka and Chinese destinations under special considerations.

CAAB, in a circular, said airlines will be able to carry point-to-point passengers only.

Passengers coming to Bangladesh by the flights cleared under this special consideration will strictly have to complete a 14-day institutional quarantine at government-nominated facilities or hotels at their own expense.

Airlines will issue boarding passes after ensuring that the institutional quarantine arrangements are in place for the passengers concerned.

All incoming and outgoing passengers are mandated to possess PCR based Covid-19 negative certificate, and the test has to be done within 72 hours of the flight departure time.

For outgoing flights from Dhaka, CAAB said there will be no capacity restrictions for narrow-bodied (single isle) aircraft.

But all wide-bodied (twin isle) aircraft shall carry a maximum of 280 passengers, except for B777 and B747 aircraft which will be allowed to carry up to 320 passengers.

For incoming flights to Dhaka, CAAB said a maximum of 100 passengers in the narrow-bodied aircraft and 150 passengers in the wide-bodied aircraft can be carried, CAAB also said.

In both the cases of narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, the last row of the economy class and one seat of the business class cabin shall be kept vacant for any suspected Covid-19 positive passenger.
