Stocks jump in the first hour
Stocks soared in the morning trade today signifying positive investor sentiment as the government has given sovereign guarantee against Tk 3,000 crore loans from the central bank sought by the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB), a major investor in the stock market.
DSEX, the premier index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), surged 1.23 percent in the first hour of trading.
It gained 65.73 points to reach 5,381.74 as of 11:08 am.
This positive movement followed a mixed trend yesterday, where all DSE indices rose marginally while the Chittagong Stock Exchange experienced a decline amidst intense sales pressure.
Of the shares, 310 advanced, 33 declined, and 27 remained unchanged.
Total turnover stood at Tk 173.62 crore.
Western Marine Shipyard Ltd, Aman Feed Ltd, and Khulna Power Company Ltd led the gains, each rising 10 percent.
Tosrifa Industries Ltd saw the steepest decline, shedding 7.76 percent.
Meanwhile, the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) increased by 0.55 percent, gaining 81.33 points to reach 14,862.65.
