Man beaten dead by ‘wife’ in Dhaka
A woman allegedly beat her husband to death with a cricket bat over family feud in Dhaka’s Kafrul area today.
The deceased was identified as Babul Akter, 35, an employee at Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), family said.
Accused Rima Begum went into hiding along with their seven-year-old son, Taif, following the murder, police said.
Victim’s father Rifaz Uddin said his son was sleeping as today was public holiday. At around 9:00am, Rima took Taif's cricket bat and hit on Babul's head indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Babul’s mother Soneka Begum, 60, also sustained injuries as she tried to resist Rima, he said.
Both were rushed to National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital immediately, and later were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Babul died at the hospital around 4:30pm. His mother is being treated at DMCH, Rifaz told The Daily Star.
Md Selimuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Kafrul Police Station, said that they came to know that the couple had been having a family feud for long time.
