Dhaka, N’ganj mob kills 2 suspected to be child kidnappers
Angry mobs beat two unidentified people to death suspecting them as child kidnappers in separate incidents at Dhaka and Narayanganj this morning.
In Dhaka, a woman in her 30s was beaten dead at Badda area around 8:30am, our staff correspondent reports quoting Rafikul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Badda Police Station.
Locals found the woman’s movement and body language “suspicious” and thought she was trying to kidnap children in the area, the OC said quoting witnesses.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
In Naraynganj’s Siddhirganj, a youth, aged around 25 years old, was beaten to death around 8:30 am, our local correspondent reports quoting Shahidul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Siddhirganj Police Station.
Locals alleged that the youth was seen carrying a crying child. Thinking that the youth was kidnapping the six-year-old child, the mob swooped on him, the SI said.
The youth’s body was kept at Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy.
