2 dead, 3 hurt in Bagerhat bike crash

Two people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles on the Bagerhat-Morelganj road at Dona in Morelganj upazila this morning.

The deceased were identified as Chinmoy Haldar, 40, son of Hironmoy Haldar, a resident of Kalai village in Jia Nagar upazila of Pirojpur district, and Hafiz Mollah, 35, son of Idris Mollah of Balaibunia village in Morelganj upazila.

Chinmoy Haldar was a teacher of a government primary school in Zia Nagar.

M Rashedul Alam, officer-in-charge of Morelganj Police Station, said the accident took place when two motorcycles, one carrying two people and the other three, collided head-on at Dona around 7:30am, leaving driver of a motorbike Hafiz and pillion rider of another bike Chinmoy dead and three others injured on the spot.

The injured were whisked off to Khulna Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
