Cops disperse demo of CU BCL
Police today dispersed a demonstration of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the ruling party’s student front and held one, in continuation of yesterday’s chaos at campus over domination.
Some Chhatra League activists demonstrated at Zero Point gate and vandalised several vehicles. Police dispersed them with tear gas shells, our campus correspondent reports.
Last reported, police fired tear gas shells to disperse the demonstrating students.
District Additional Super Superintendent Abdullah Al Masum said police frisked through Shahjalal Hall and Shah Amanat Hall last night and detained eight people for questioning.
Two (LG) pistols and few Ramdas were recovered from both the halls, he said.
Mohammad Alamgir Tipu,former president of the dissolved BCL campus unit, said they are holding an indefinite strike protesting the attack on their supporters and followers at campus.
Earlier today, angry protesters damaged the shuttle trains of the university, according to Md Shahab Uddin, station master of Chittagong city’s SholoshahorRailway Station.
Rivaling factions of Chhatra League clashed at campus yesterday, leading to a series of incidents including police action.
