Kader Siddique files appeal against scrapping candidacy
Krishak Sramik Janata League president Abdul Kader Siddique filed a petition with the Supreme Court today challenging a High Court order that had upheld cancellation of his candidacy for Tangail-4 by-polls.
In the appeal, Kader prayed to the apex court to stay the HC judgment and the process for holding election to Tangail-4 constitution, his lawyer Raghib Rauf Chowdhury told The Daily Star.
The chamber judge of the Appellate Division is likely to hear the petition later in the day, Chowdhury said.
The HC on February 4 upheld the decision of the Election Commission, which cancelled Kader’s nomination over loan default allegation.
The HC on that day asked the EC to proceed to the process for holding Tangail-4 constituency polls.
