Khaleda for unity to ‘save country’ from AL
Terming ruling Awami League an evil force, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today called for a national unity to protect the country from the grip of the party.
“Our motherland is passing through a critical moment. We need to form a national unity to protect its independence, sovereignty and democracy,” Khaleda said in a statement marking December 16, the victory day of Bangladesh.
“A conspiracy is on to make the country subservient though our motherland was saved in 1971. An evil force is still conspiring to banish our hard-earned independence,” she said.
Terming the 2014 general election a stage-managed drama, the BNP-led 20-party alliance chief said public opinions were ignored in the national election of January 5.
“We have no civic rights. An anarchical situation is prevailing in the country,” she said.
Taking over in the election, the ruling party is implementing its blueprint agenda to eliminate the democratic strength of the country, the former premier alleged.
