Natore DC made OSD for ‘sexual harassment’
Natore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Golamur Rahman has been made officer on special duty (OSD) on charge of “harassing a female colleague”.
The public administration ministry issued a circular in this regard today. The ministry also appointed Mohammad Shariaz, deputy secretary of power and energy, as the news DC of Natore, according to another circular.
Earlier, the female staff wrote to the ministry accusing Golamur Rahman of harassing her by sending “indecent” text messages and making “suggestive” proposals.
In a letter, the victim alleged that the harassment began soon after Rahman joined the DC office on October 9. The victim also attached screenshots of the Facebook messenger conversations with her letter.
On several occasions, Rahman texted the woman during late hours at night on the pretext of “official urgency,” but she did not respond, the letter read. Every morning she had to explain herself for not replying to the messages, it added.
The Daily Star has obtained a copy of the letter from her colleagues.
However, DC Golamur Rahman has denied the allegations.
