Syed Jamil Ahmed’s 'Ami Birangona Bolchi to stage today
Legendary director Syed Jamil Ahmed is set to captivate audiences once again with his latest stage play, "Ami Birangona Bolchi." The play is based on Neelima Ibrahim's book about the war heroines, 'Birangona' in the Liberation War.
The grand inauguration ceremony of "Ami Birangona Bolchi" is scheduled to take place today at 4pm at the studio theater hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, setting the stage for an enthralling theatrical experience. The theater group, 'Spordha,' will be performing the play for 15 consecutive days, with a total of 21 captivating shows lined up for theater enthusiasts.
On the opening day, June 16, there will be two exhibitions of "Ami Birangona Bolchi" at 4pm and 7:30pm, offering ample opportunities for theater lovers to witness this powerful production. The play will continue to be showcased with regular exhibitions on June 17 at 4pm and 7:30pm, June 18 to 22 at 7pm, and June 23 and 24 at 4pm and 7:30pm. Additionally, there will be special Eid exhibitions on June 28 at 7:30pm, June 29 at 4pm and 7:30pm, and June 30 at 4pm and 7:30pm, providing an extended opportunity for audiences to engage with the play.
Syed Jamil Ahmed, apart from directing the play, has also taken charge of stage and light planning as well as music selection. His directorial prowess is well-known, with acclaimed dramas such as "Chaka", "Bishad Shindhu", "Behular Bhaashan", "Songbhangchang", and "Komola Rani Shagor Dighi" to his credit.
In "Ami Birangona Bolchi," the play's narratives revolve around the two heroines, Moina and Meherjan, highlighting the immense brutality inflicted upon them during the Liberation War. The production serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience and sacrifices of the 'Birangona' war heroines, shedding light on their untold stories.
