37 filmmakers honoured at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy
A ten-day-long festival, titled 'Cholochitro Shonshodkormider Nirmito Cholochitro Utshob', concluded on Saturday, which was held at Jatiyo Chitroshala Auditorium, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. On the closing day, 37 filmmakers were honoured.
The festival was organised as a part of year-long celebrations to mark 60 years of the Bangladesh Film Parliament Movement, and 50 years of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh.
Eminent cultural personality, and member of the parliament Asaduzzaman Noor was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the festival. Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky, filmmaker and film parliamentarian Morshedul Islam were present as honoured guests.
The president of Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh, architect Laylun Nahar Swamy presided over the event, while the general secretary of Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh, Belayat Hossain Mamun moderated the event.
On the occasion, Asaduzzaman Noor shared his journey of joining the Film Parliament movement in the sixties and seventies. According to him, Film Parliament Movement was the main school to develop their understanding and thinking about films.
Through this movement, the film quality and artistic value of our country has been improved. The best filmmakers of this country have come out from among the film parliamentarians. He believes it to be a great achievement. He also emphasised that the film parliament movement in Bangladesh needs to be promoted better, and for this, the cultural sector needs to cooperate even more.
43 selected films by 37 filmmakers were screened in this 10-day-long film festival, which kicked off on June 8. After the closing ceremony, film maker Tanveer Mokammel's "Chitra Nodir Pare" was screened as the final film of the festival.
