"Gadar – Ek Prem Katha (2001)" won people's hearts through its warm storytelling and of course the fantastic performance of Amrish Puri as the staunch father Ashraf Ali.

The much awaited sequel of "Gadar 2" was released across theaters on August 11. While almost all of the main characters were taken in the sequel. However, Amrish Puri is absent from the sequel. This is mainly due to the legendary actor's demise on January 12, 2005. But interestingly, the creators were able to make him come alive in a crucial scene in "Gadar 2" with CGI.

It's a brief shot, but the way it's done gives the idea that Amrish Puri actually filmed for that scene.

"Gadar - Ek Prem Katha" told the story of an Amritsar Sikh driver who enters Pakistan illegally with his son to liberate his wife from her family's clutches. "Gadar 2" picks up where the first portion left off and jumps ahead 17 years. The film has opened to a bumper opening and has already grossed Rs 40 crores at the box office.
