Cristiano could face ban for off the ball incident

This has been a great week for Cristiano Ronaldo after he won the Fifa’s Best award. However there is cause for concern as his La Liga goals have dried up dramatically.

The frustration of being unable to find the net may have acted as catalyst for his behaviour as footage emerged of Ronaldo pushing Girona defender Pere Pons on the face during a corner.

Real Madrid slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Catalonia against newly promoted Girona although it was the Los Blancos who scored the first goal.

Ronaldo drew a blank against Girona and the forward has only scored one goal in La Liga this season.

Cristiano was banned for five games earlier in the season – one game ban for a red card and four more games for pushing the referee.

If La Liga wants to look into the face shoving incident then Cristiano might get another ban. Real Madrid are currently third in La Liga after 10 matches and trail leaders Barcelona by eight points.
