Cops claim success as Traffic Week ends
Police have claimed that the Traffic Week was successful as it ended today.
The law enforcers collected over Tk seven crore from different vehicles for violating traffic rules in the 10 days of the Traffic Week across the country.
The Traffic Week started on Sunday, August 5, and was extended for three more days till today.
A total of Tk 7,08,14,375 has been collected as fines from different vehicles for various violations of traffic rules including not having driving licenses and proper fitness certificates in the 10 days, said Mohammad Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (AIG- Media and PR) of Police Headquarters.
The traffic policemen lodged cases against a total of 1,80,249 vehicles for breaking traffic rules in six metropolitan police areas and eight ranges and highway ranges, according to a press release of Bangladesh Police.
Besides, legal actions have been taken against 74,228 drivers for traffic rule violations like driving vehicles on the wrong-side, using hydraulic horns and for not carrying proper documents with them at the time of plying on the roads, the release read.
The law enforcers also seized a total of 5,418 vehicles, it added.
