Jashore rape: Doctors find rape evidence
Doctors at Jashore Sadar Hospital said they have found evidence of rape after primary test of the woman, who was allegedly violated by a sub-inspector (SI) and his informant in the district.
Dr Arif Ahmed, a resident doctor of the Hospital, said “In the primary medical test, we found the presence of semen. DNA test is needed for further confirmation and to determine how many people were involved in the rape”.

This procedure needs court order, he added.
Talking to journalists this morning, Mainul Hoque, superintendent of police(SP) in Jashore, said “We asked for medical report but haven’t got it yet. We also have pleaded to the court for DNA test permission. As soon as we get the permission, the sample will be sent to Dhaka for DNA test.”
The victim, a mother of two, alleged that a police sub-inspector and his informant raped her on Tuesday night, but police yesterday claimed that she registered a case against four persons, excluding the SI.
Dr Arif Ahmed, yesterday told the Daily Star that the victim came to the emergency unit on Tuesday afternoon and after hearing her claims, we informed police about the matter
“Specimens were collected from the victim,” he said yesterday.
Police yesterday said the victim filed a case against four persons without naming one of them.
SP Mainul Hoque said, “Four people, including SI Khairul, were produced before the complainant in the evening [Tuesday]. But she could not recognise Khairul. We assume that it was not him. It could be someone else by the name Khairul.”
Salahuddin Shikder, additional superintendent of police in Jashore, said a committee has been formed to investigate the incident, and SI Khairul was withdrawn for the sake of an impartial probe.
Meanwhile, police arrested three accused -- Kamrul Islam, 40, Omar Ali, 50, and Abdul Latif, 48, -- raiding different places in the area.
