A youth died yesterday after falling from the roof of a moving train in Lalmonirhat's Kaliganj.

The deceased is Raju Islam, 18, son of Hashem Ali of Madati village in Kaliganj upazila.

Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Selim Malik said the incident occurred this afternoon on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari railway route while Raju was returning home from a Waz Mahfil in Lalmonirhat town.

Witnesses said the train was going to Burimari station from Lalmonirhat. There was a large crowd of passengers inside the train compartment and on the roof as well since many were returning from the Waz Mahfil.

Raju was also on the roof of the train. When the train reached near Bhotmari station, he suddenly fell down from the train roof and died on the spot after being crushed by its wheels.
