Bangladeshi expatriates have joined a reunion programme and cultural events in Barcelona, Spain.

The cultural programme was arranged by Youth Bangla Cutural Foundation on Sunday.

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Spain Mohammad Sarwar Mahmood was the chief guest and Ramón Pedro Bernaus, Honorary Consul at Consulate of Bangladesh in Barcelona; Mur-e Jamal Khokon, senior adviser of the youth foundation, its president Khadiza Akhter Monika, and general secretary Nur-e Amin Tokon were present, among others.

Ambassador Sarwar Mahmood called upon all the Bangladeshi expatriates to uphold Bangladesh's image -- performing their duty with unity.

He said, "The officials in the consulate come for a short time, though they are representatives of the country and they have to leave after their tenure expire. So, the expatriates are the actual representatives of the country as they remain here."

At the beginning of the event, Manjurul Hasan Shuvo announced the activity planning of the foundation under supervision of the foundation's organisational secretary Masuda Parveen Munni.

During the programme, local artists presented dances and songs.

Apart from this, three persons were awarded through a quiz competition during the programme.

ATM Abdur Rauf Mondol, head of chancery of the Bangladesh mission in Barcelona, first secretary (labour wing) Md Motashimul Islam and leaders of Bangladesh community were present at the event.
