Miraz fifty helps Khulna to six-wicket win over Sylhet
Khulna Tigers skipper Mehedi Hasan Miraz scored a responsible half-century to help his side to a six-wicket win over Sylhet Strikers at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Thursday.
Having opened the innings, Miraz smashed two sixes and eight fours in a 50-ball 70-run knock which laid the foundation for Rajshahi to chase down a 152-run target. Things got tight as Rajshahi needed three runs from the final two deliveries but Australian recruit William Bosisto (19 runs off 11 balls) smashed a six over deep mid-wicket in the penultimate delivery bowled by Reece Topley to take his side over the line. Alex Ross remained unbeaten on 20 off 23 balls at the other end.
Earlier, opener George Munsey smashed a 32-ball 58, laced with four sixes and six fours, which was complemented by Zakir Hasan's 32-ball 44 to help Sylhet past the 150-mark. No other batter apart from Sumon Khan (12 runs off five balls) managed to reach double figures which held Sylhet back from registering a larger total.
The Khulna pacers had a field day as Abu Hider, Hasan Mahmud, and Salman Irshad scalped two wickets each.
The win gave Khulna a push into the top four as they edge fifth-placed Durbar Rajshahi on net run-rate, while Sylhet languish at the bottom.
