Oak cognacs
Descending from Lands far and wide–
Bequeathing the land of Cascades!
At the expanse of Hamidian nights–
To lands fecund.
From Orontid to Republic
Memories ingrained in veins
From carnage barbaric to benignancy–
Of bygone eras and congruence
To lands foreign and STRANGE.
From lands of blessed grapes and pomegranate–to Venus harvests
To reds and greens–From marmalades, azure and crimsons
Disrobing Taraz-shrouding in drapes
Claims laid to rest–
From skin placid to hues olive.
My primogenitors long asleep–
Frost bounds and mutilated blossoms shield them;
With them lies my mauve alterity
That which once was home-rendered me foreign
Nonnation–My new being
From moon beamed mountains
To plains deltaic;
In Diasporas–detached
Blue Mosque kneaded in ribs–
Oak cognacs no longer call to sleep.
Had Hamadians been kinder-
Thou & I, would weave together.
