Govt considering mandatory registration for tour operators, guides
Tour operators and tourist guides will have to get registered to offer their services, according to a proposed new law.
The Cabinet today approved in principle the draft of Bangladesh Tour Operator and Guide (Registration and Operation) Act 2020 during the regular Cabinet meeting.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said this while briefing journalists after the meeting.
The proposed law aims to enhance tourism sector in the country by earning the trust of tourists, he said.
A tourism authority will be formed to this end, the cabinet secretary also said, adding that all tour operators and tourist guides currently operating in the country will have to get registered under the new law.
There will be provisions for penalty in cases of violation of the new law, the cabinet secretary added.
