Ten-day film festival kicks off at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy
In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the film society movement in Bangladesh and the 50th anniversary of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh, an exciting event called the 'Film Festival 2023 by Film Society Members' is set to captivate audiences. This 10-day festival will showcase a curated selection of films created by the members of Bangladeshi film societies over the past six decades.
The opening ceremony of the festival was held on Thursday at 6 pm at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The festival was inaugurated by the distinguished Masihuddin Sarker and Syed Salahuddin Zaki. The event was graced by the presence of Liaquat Ali Lucky, the Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, as a guest of honor while Belayat Hossain Mamun, the General Secretary of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh, delivered the welcome speech. Presided over by Kaizer Chowdhury, advisory council member of the FFSB, renowned filmmaker Morshedul Islam gave the welcome speech.
The festival started with Tareque Masud's captivating documentary "Adam Surat". This screening serves as a tribute to the centenary of the birth of the legendary artist SM Sultan, showcasing the artistic brilliance that defined his legacy. Additionally, an intriguing film by Morshedul Islam, titled, "Chaka" was shown.
Over the course of the 10-day event, a total of 43 films will be showcased, including 22 feature films, 13 documentaries, and 8 short films. The festival exhibitions will commence daily at 3pm, 5.30pm, and 7.30pm, allowing film enthusiasts to indulge in a diverse range of cinematic experiences.
