Tanvir Hasan’s ‘Moddhobitto’ hits theatres nationwide today
Tanvir Hasan's much-anticipated film "Moddhobitto" debuts in theatres today, marking the first movie release of the year. The director had earlier revealed to Prothom Alo that the film would see its premiere this month. On Wednesday, he reiterated the announcement via a Facebook post, confirming that the movie would indeed hit the big screens on Friday (January 3).
The journey to release "Moddhobitto" began when the film obtained its censor board approval earlier this year. Despite this, the release faced several delays due to unforeseen circumstances.
Speaking about the film's narrative, Tanvir Hasan explained that "Moddhobitto" portrays a rich tapestry of characters, capturing lives that span across rural villages and urban cities, from bustling streets to towering skyscrapers.
In his words, "This is my first directorial venture. I created this film with great aspirations for the Bangladeshi audience. Through this work, I have sought to portray the realities of class divisions. The film further highlights the life trajectories and struggles of the middle and lower-middle class. I am confident that viewers will not be disappointed after watching the film."
The film is scheduled to release in 13 theatres across the nation. In addition to multiplexes such as Star Cineplex, Jamuna Blockbuster, Lion Cinemas, Rajshahi Grand Riverview, and Magic Movie Theater in Uttara, the movie will also be shown in several single-screen cinemas, including Modern Cinema in Dinajpur, Purabi Cinema in Mymensingh, and Bonolota Cinema in Faridpur.
The film "Moddhobitto" features performances by Shishir Sardar, Mayeesha Prarthi, the late Masum Aziz, Borda Mithu, Shamu Chowdhury, Elina Shammi, Omar Malik, Amir Siraji, Sohel Rana, and Shabnam Parveen, among others.
The story, dialogues, and screenplay have been written by the director himself.
