ACC asks Chandpur BNP leader, civil surgeon to submit wealth statement

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has asked Advocate Dulal Mia Patwari, vice-president of Chandpur district BNP, and Dr Abdul Mannan, civil surgeon of Chandpur, to submit the statements of their wealth to the ACC in Comilla within seven days.

Two notices in this regard were sent to them on Monday and Tuesday, said Comilla ACC Deputy Director Shafiqur Rahman yesterday.

The ACC sent the notices after a preliminary inquiry, he told this correspondent over phone.

BNP leader Dulal Mia Patwari was arrested by joint forces about three months ago on various charge.

The first convocation of Dhaka International University will be held on July 15 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre, says a press release.

President and Chancellor of the university Iajuddin Ahmed has consented to preside over the convocation ceremony.

Gaibandha road crash kills one

A rickshawpuller was killed and two others were injured when a speedy truck dashed his rickshaw from behind at Dhanghara on Gaibandha-Palashbari highway yesterday.

Police said the rickshaw skidded off the road, leaving Nurul Islam, 45, a rickshawpuller and inhabitant of village Ramchandrapur under Gaibandha Sadar upazila dead on the spot and two passengers injured seriously. The injured were rushed to hospital.
